Streaming Nia and Restorative Yoga Classes via Zoom with Linda All Free! Week of Nov. 9th Nia Routine: Pink Martini!

nia pink martini shoutout grapgicAfter all the political angst, we need a comforting routine to help us recover.  If you have not experienced Pink Martini, you are in for a treat.  Incredible band with many languages and genres.

Here is a link to a few of my favorite pieces in this routine.  Bitty Boppy Betty and Now She’s Gone sung by Guest Singer NPR’s Ari Shapiro.

This Nia routine is all about flexibility and strength to music from movies, not musicals, but movies whose soundtracks have become iconic.

If you are new to Nia with Linda, these streaming classes are free.  Share with anyone who you feel needs a little movement in their lives during this period of social isolation.

So here is how it works.  It will be easier for you if you download the Zoom client for meetings for a desktop or laptop, or the app for phones and tablets.

Click here for the link to download the zoom client or the app

Then click on this link to bring to my website and the list of streaming classes

At my website, niawithlinda.com, you will want to click on the link for the class and time you are trying to join.  Otherwise you will be all alone!

If you have downloaded the client/app, the meeting will open automatically in that interface.

If you have not downloaded the app/client, it should open in a web browser.

You can join early and sit in the waiting room. No magazines but no doctors either.

I’ll leave the audio open till the class starts.  If I leave the audio on, it interferes with my audio and we can’t have that!  I’ll open it back up at the end.  If you need to get my attention, you can raise your hand.  It is an icon in the middle of the bottom of the screen.

Daylight Saving Time Ends This Weekend

This weekend is not just Halloween – it is also the end of DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME.

That means when we go to bed Saturday night, October 31st we need to turn the clocks back one hour.

Daylight Saving time ends Sunday, November 1st at 2:00 AM. This means the clocks need to move backwards 1 hour, 2:00 AM will change to 1:00 AM.

A reminder from your friends at ABC Home Healthcare – This is also a good time to change the batteries in your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors and to make sure they are in working order.

Improving the Quality of Our Sleep

Given the problems with conventional soporifics, medical scientists have been exploring other ways to improve sleep by targeting the endocannabinoid system (ECS). As the primary homeostatic regulator of human physiology, the ECS plays a major role in the sleep-wake cycle and other circadian processes.

Italian scientist Vicenzo DiMarzo summarized the broad regulatory function of the endocannabinoid system in the phrase “Eat, sleep, relax, protect and forget.”

How we fall asleep, stay asleep, wake up, and remain awake is part of an internal biological process regulated by our circadian rhythms and our endocannabinoid system. Circadian rhythms govern a diverse array of actions in the body, including hormone production, heart rate, metabolism, and when to go to sleep and wake up.

The way we fall asleep, stay asleep, wake up, and remain awake is regulated by our circadian rhythms and our endocannabinoid system.

It’s as if we have an internal biochemical timer or clock that keeps track of our need for sleep, guides the body to sleep and then influences the intensity of sleep. This biological mechanism is affected by external forces such as travel, medication, food, drink, environment, stress and more.
