Through the lens of Ayurveda, our heart is the launching pad of all body/physical and mind/mental sensations. Our thoughts stimulate a physical emotional response releasing bodily chemicals and hormones into our bloodstream. Our body sends signals back to the mind, which responds. Thoughts in turn affect the physical body. It is a loop that continuously repeats itself.
Ayurveda Wellness Healing, LLC encourages you to slow down, think before you react and work on your breathing, slow it down, as this will give you time to be mindful for your own health.
Remember: We become our thoughts and you are in the drivers seat.

Treetop Yoga Studio is calling all those who say “I can’t do yoga because I am not flexible”. Yoga is for everyBODY. Some of us are stronger, some of us are more flexible, but it is never too late to explore this balance of strength and flexibility in the yoga studio.
We are thrilled to welcome experienced teacher Stephen Labonte into the studio on Wednesday nights. We’re thrilled for the return of summer here on Cape Ann and happy to announce that because of the success of the past two years we are expanding the beloved Yoga on the Harbor class to both Saturday AND Sunday every weekend from Memorial day through Labor Day!
This class is wicked fun, low pressure, and ACCESSIBLE to people of all ages, athletic abilities, and flexibility. Enjoy a beautiful vista of Gloucester Harbor as the sounds, sights, and smells of America’s Oldest Seaport help to ground you and really start your weekend day off with gratitude and presence. It’s a great place to meet other active, healthy, and bright eyed locals.
Be sure to dress appropriately for a morning wake-up on Gloucester’s working waterfront – it never hurts to have a comfortable, larger sweatshirt – you can always take it off! Class will be on whether there is fog, wind, light rain, or the most beautiful sunshine dripped clouds you’ve ever dreamed of. This isn’t Cape Cod yoga in polo shirts and dockers – it’s Cape Ann Power Yoga, where the power of nature is just as revered as the power within each one of us. Class is on unless it’s really bad out.
Class is $15 if you’re just dropping in, and only $10 if you are a member of Maritime Gloucester or have a regular priced unlimited membership at Cape Ann Power Yoga. Mats are available to rent for $5 each. We really encourage you to sign up for a membership at the Museum and support their mission so they can continue to provide the unparalleled programming they do year after year. It’s only $40 for an individual membership and that money goes to ensure that local kids get to learn about every aspect of the ocean and our relationship to it. It’s amazing what this Gloucester institution does and how much of a difference your support makes. 40% of the proceeds from the money we raise with these classes goes directly to Maritime Gloucester and supporting their mission. It’s something we believe in and hope you do too.

Love asparagus? Here is one of Ayurveda Wellness Healing, LLC favorite. Let us know what you think…
Traditonal risotto is made using arborio rice, which is white and glutinous and produces a very creamy rice dish. The trick to making a creamy and tasty brown rice risotto is to use short grain rice and lots of veggie stock.
3/4 cup short grain brown rice
2 cups vegetable or mushroom stock
1 Tbsp each butter (or ghee) and olive oil
4 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 red onion, chopped
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
1 tsp dried basil
1 bunch asparagus, trimmed and chopped
grated parmesan or reggiano cheese
In a medium, heavy pot, heat the butter (or ghee) and olive oil. Add onions, garlic and red pepper flakes, sauteeing until soft. Stir in rice, basil and half the stock. Let simmer covered on medium for 20 minutes, then add remaining stock plus asparagus. Stir well, cover, and let cook until all the liquid is absorbed and rice is creamy (not firm or dry), about another half hour. If needed, cook in another 1/4 cup or 1/2 cup of stock to reach the right consistency. Stir in parmesan to taste and grind in some black pepper. Serves 2.
NOTE: Ayurvedically, cheese is not recommended as it is difficult to digest, but it also purports that black pepper helps make it more digestible.
- We make our own Ghee and it’s for sale – best out there.
FOR INDIVIDUAL DOSHAS
Great for all doshas. Pittas, omit or minimize garlic, dried basil, and red pepper flakes; Kaphas, omit or reduce butter and oil to 1 tsp each.
