These funds will help provide more opportunities for camp and early education to local children and families
The Glen T. MacLeod Cape Ann YMCA received a $10,000 gift from BankGloucester to support the Y’s financial assistance program. BankGloucester President & CEO Patrick Thorpe presented a check to YMCA of the North Shore President & CEO Chris Lovasco on May 5, 2022.

“The Y is an exceptional organization. They have been a staple of the Cape Ann Community for a very long time and through their programs, have supported our community members and their families in various ways, said Patrick Thorpe, BankGloucester President & CEO. Thorpe added, “This has been especially true over the past couple of years as the pandemic has significantly impacted so many of us. The Y has stepped up and provided financial assistance and support in so many different areas. We are very fortunate to have an organization like the YMCA in our community, and BankGloucester is pleased to be able to support their initiatives with this gift.”
This generous donation will help the Y broaden their reach to more children and families in need of financial assistance to access the Y’s resources, programs and activities. The Y has seen a significant uptick in the requests for financial support, especially over the past two years and BankGloucester’s gift will make it possible for the Y to provide more to those who need it most.
Chris Lovasco, YMCA of the North Shore President & CEO said, “Our Y truly values our long standing relationship with BankGloucester. They have been an incredibly generous partner. From their early support for the new Glen T. MacLeod Cape Ann YMCA to ensuring, with their annual support, that our Y continues to say yes to any child or family in need of Y services regardless of their ability to pay. As our Y has grown, the need for financial aid has grown equally. Support like this is vital to making sure we meet our mission of welcoming all.”
