Thank you to everyone who joined us for our birthday breakfast and panel discussion to celebrate our second year in our new location. It wouldn’t be a celebration without great company, impactful discussions, and a ‘happy birthday’ song from our Early Learning Program. Special shout out to our Executive Director Erina McWilliam-Lopez and our wonderful panel, Elaine McKechnie, Gerald MacKillop, Glen MacLeod, Jack Meany, Tim Flaherty, George Lieser and Chris Lovasco, who shared how the Y and the Gloucester community has impacted their lives and the lives of their families. In just two years, the new Cape Ann Y celebrates more than 11,000 members, nearly $1 million in financial assistance provided so everyone has access to the Y, and more than 400 children learning the life saving skill of swimming through our swim lesson program. With more fitness opportunities, an outdoor splash pad for families, summer camp, early education programming, and so much more, the Y is thrilled to continue its commitment to providing a safe, welcoming, and nurturing environment for all.

Even one migraine is one too many. Unfortunately, over-the-counter painkillers often aren’t strong enough to dull the pain. Prescription pain medication may be more helpful, but these drugs can cause unpleasant side effects. If you’re struggling to manage your migraines, chiropractic treatment could ease your pain and reduce the number of days you experience migraine pain.
Treating Migraines with Chiropractic
Migraines cause 113 million lost work days every year, according to the American Headache Association. If you have migraines, that statistic probably doesn’t seem surprising. After all, it’s hard to do your job when your head throbs and you feel dizzy and nauseated.
Do you regularly spend hours hidden away in a dark room, hoping your headache will finally end? Chiropractic care could ease your pain and allow you to enjoy life once again. Although you may associate chiropractic care with joint and back pain relief, chiropractors actually treat a variety of conditions, including migraines.
Your chiropractor may include a few of these therapies in your migraine treatment plan:

Many people view massage therapy as a method for relaxing and letting go of stress. These are two benefits, of course, but massage therapy is also an incredible tool for healing various issues.
Therapeutic massage is a method through which firm strokes or pressure are utilized in a target area. This technique helps break up nervous tissues to relieve pain and address motion restrictions. These benefits are commonly known, but this approach does much more than that.
As treated, an area pulls blood and other healing nutrients to kickstart the body’s natural healing processes. As a result, damaged tissue can regenerate and heal, relieving pain and reducing inflammation.
Massage therapy is also beneficial, as it promotes the release of endorphins in the body. This method provides a feeling of relaxation and reduces or eliminates your pain.
Both the hard and soft tissues of the body work together and rely on each other to keep you healthy. Therefore, when there is an issue in either area, it can cause an issue in the other. Consequently, the hard and soft tissues must be treated for full and lasting relief.
Therapeutic massage has been used for many years to address various conditions and symptoms. The following are just a few conditions our team uses it for.
Neck pain, headaches and migraines, scoliosis, sciatica, and carpal tunnel syndrome are other conditions that can benefit from therapeutic massage with our team.
If you’re suffering from pain, limited range of motion, or other issues in the musculoskeletal system, the team at The Russell Center for Chiropractic & Sports Medicine can develop a personalized treatment plan for relief. Call their office at (978) 927-2607 to schedule your appointment today.
