Teen and Tween Yoga Workshop

In this class, your teen/tween will build confidence, self esteem, strength, flexibility, balance, and positive coping skills as they develop a deeper understanding of their bodies, minds and hearts. With a playful and lighthearted approach, we will work towards more physically demanding postures and flowing sequences to keep tweens/teens interested and challenged. Fostering connection, community with class peers, and self-respect, we will also begin using relaxing visualization, meditation, and breathing exercises to create a well-rounded experience of “union”.

This class is perfect for all levels. The student who is looking to manage stress, the athlete looking to build strength and flexibility, the adolescent who is struggling to find an activity, and the well-rounded child…because we can all use a little mind-body connection in this busy world! Sunday evenings are great time to reset, and your teens will find it easier to fall asleep.

Parents, you can find a little calm with your teens by taking Yin Yoga in the sun studio with Hilary Richard while your kids are in class.  Our new student special allows new visitors to the studio to try an unlimited month of yoga for $49.

Instructor Erin McKay is a former middle school educator and certified kids yoga teacher. As a mother of four, she recognizes how busy life is for our Tweens and Teens with the demands of academics, the stress of after school activities, and the influence of social media on peer relationships. She has witnessed the power of introducing yoga and mindfulness at a young age from her weekly work with schools ranging from preschool to high school.

Restorative Reset with Thai Bodywork and Reiki at Treetop Yoga

Reset your body, mind, and heart in this monthly restorative workshop. Restorative yoga is a relaxing and therapeutic practice that will leave you feeling calm and at ease.
By candlelight, the evening will start off with gentle pranayama (breath work) and a brief guided meditation to quiet the mind. Feel physical tension and stress melt away as we transition into fully supported yoga poses to help soothe the nervous system.

Hands on reiki, therapeutic Thai bodywork, and essential oils will create a spa like experience as you enter a deep state of relaxation and bliss. You will leave feeling refreshed, nourished and replenished.

YOGA AND THE HEALTHY SPINE

No yoga experience necessary – All are welcome!

Does your back ache after driving for long periods, standing or sitting at your computer?
Do you have or have you had back pain? Do you feel pain in your lower back when in cobra, uttanasna (forward fold), trikanasana, back bends or any other yoga poses?
If you answered yes to any of the above, this workshop will be perfect for you, as we explore how to access your body in a mindful, gentle and safe manner to allow the spine to work pain free in yoga poses and everyday life.
We will explore yoga poses that will lengthen and strengthen the spine to allow ease of movement and bring your body into alignment as you learn to keep your spine healthy.
  • Low back pain is the single leading cause of disability worldwide, according to the Global Burden of Disease 2010.
  • Back pain is one of the most common reasons for missed work. In fact, back pain is the second most common reason for visits to the doctor’s office, outnumbered only by upper-respiratory infections.

Join Elaine O’Rourke for an evening of bliss. Through the beautiful sounds of Tibetan singing bowls, gongs, ocean drums, chimes, rain sticks, guitar and voice, you will be led on a musical journey that will help to restore balance while you absorb the unique sound vibrations. This exquisite experience is most relaxing and meditative, and Elaine’s beautiful voice and talent on her instruments are both healing and meditative. Participants should bring a mat or something to lie on and wear comfortable clothing.
Healing with sound dates back to Ancient Greece, and has been proven to be therapeutic at the cellular level. The vibrational therapy can improve emotional and physical well-being, such as lowering stress and anxiety, improving sleep, and reducing blood pressure.
Elaine O’Rourke is an experienced 500 hour yoga teacher & musician. She is continually inspired by the transformations that occur through yoga and how the magic of music can transport you to another dimension. You may recognize Elaine from her summer yoga classes on Good Harbor Beach.

Settle into a candlelit room and begin your evening with gentle pranayama (breath work) and a brief guided meditation to quiet the mind. Feel physical tension and stress melt away as you transition into fully supported yoga poses on the mats, blankets, and bolsters to help soothe the nervous system.

Hands on Reiki with Matt Malone, therapeutic Thai bodywork by Megan, and essential oils will create a spa-like experience as you enter a deep state of relaxation and bliss. You will leave feeling refreshed, nourished and replenished. If your body and mind crave more, plan on joining Megan for this monthly workshop in October and November as well.

Imagine waking up Sunday morning and starting your day on beautiful Gloucester Harbor. The smells of the ocean, the sounds of the birds, a view of the breakwater and the Atlantic Ocean, and the feeling of floating on the water.
This stand up paddle board yoga workshop with Anneliese Brosch is designed for those who want to test their balance and connect to nature. This workshop includes paddle instruction, rental of all applicable equipment, anchoring system and a full yoga class, complete with one of the best savannas of your life.

S.U.P. YOGA WORKSHOP

Yoga for Men (and flexibly challenged women!)

Treetop Yoga Studio is calling all those who say “I can’t do yoga because I am not flexible”. Yoga is for everyBODY. Some of us are stronger, some of us are more flexible, but it is never too late to explore this balance of strength and flexibility in the yoga studio.

We are thrilled to welcome experienced teacher Stephen Labonte into the studio on Wednesday nights. This four week workshop series will explore yoga basics in order to establish a foundation to get the most out of your yoga practice in a mindful, safe manner and to increase flexibility, strength and range of motion.  Each week we will slow down and focus on basic postures. We will learn how to access postures in a safe and pain-free way in order to calm the body and nervous system and deepen your practice. REGISTER HERE
