Are You Fighting to Lose Pandemic Pounds? You’re Not Alone.

If you’ve packed on pounds since March, know that you’re not alone. In a poll of more than 1,000 WebMD readers, nearly half of the women and almost one-quarter of the men said they’d gained weight “due to COVID restrictions.”

A lot of folks have reported that they are not able to schedule exercise or maintain regular eating habits during this time. In addition, life seems to revolve around mealtime…not an easy way to control eating.

“Stress eating is also a problem for younger generations,” says Fox23. “Half of Millennials, 51%, and Gen Z, 47%, are stress eating versus older generations – Gen X (39%) and Boomers (24%).” But the middle of a pandemic – and not to mention the beginning of the holiday season – may not be the best time for you, mentally and emotionally, to start a strict diet or workout regimen. So what can you do?

You Need an Ally in this Daily Battle.

Herb Tech Pharmaceuticals has created just the ticket to help you regain control of your appetite with Curb Your Appetite CBD & Botanical Extract Oral Spray. Free Streaming Nia and Restorative Yoga Classes via Zoom with Linda for the Week of Dec. 28th Special Class on New Year’s Day 10 AM

If you are new to Nia and Restorative Yoga with Linda, these streaming classes are free.  Share with anyone who you feel needs a little movement or peace in their lives during this period of social isolation.

So here is how it works.  It will be easier for you if you download the Zoom client for meetings for a desktop or laptop, or the app for phones and tablets.

Click here for the link to download the zoom client or the app

Then click on this link to bring to my website and the list of streaming classes

At my website, niawithlinda.com, you will want to click on the link for the class and time you are trying to join.  Otherwise you will be all alone!

If you have downloaded the client/app, the meeting will open automatically in that interface.

If you have not downloaded the app/client, it should open in a web browser.

You can join early and sit in the waiting room. No magazines but no doctors either.

I’ll leave the audio open till the class starts.  If I leave the audio on, it interferes with my audio and we can’t have that!  I’ll open it back up at the end.  If you need to get my attention, you can raise your hand.  It is an icon in the middle of the bottom of the screen.

If you need any techie help, call me  617-851-2738  or email me at contact@niawithlinda.com

Find a little space in your home and be prepared to move and have fun.

For Restorative Yoga, find some cushions, large books, yoga blocks, blankets, whatever you can use instead of bolsters and blocks.  We make it work.  For more information on Restorative yoga, check out my site, niawithlinda.com.  It is a lovely passive practice that gives the participant relaxation and calm. Who couldn’t use that right now.

Feel free to share these invitations to classes with anyone who needs it.

Love to all and stay healthy,

Linda Wilkes

Join Abby Strauss-Malcolm 200-hour RYT, 750-hour CMT, in this workshop series designed to release myofascial tension throughout the body. Each session will hone in on a particular theme or targeted body part. You will leave each session feeling balanced, inspired and living better in your own body.

Sessions meet Sundays, 2:30-4pm
January 17, February 21 & March 14
$30 Drop in/ $80 all 3
For each session you’ll need: a yoga block (or foam roller), two tennis or massage balls, and a blanket or large towel for padding. Softer balls are available for purchase at the studio.

1/17: Relax and Ease your Body
In this workshop we’ll drop into a space of self-study, discovering techniques to ease stress and unravel tension in the body. We’ll hit some of my favorite spots for a relaxing, feel good effect. Release and rejuvenate the feet, abdomen, diaphragm, low back, hips, and neck. The combination of self-massage through myofascial and trigger point release, alignment based movement and breath awareness relax the muscles, and downshift the nervous system. You’ll leave with a greater sense of freedom in your own skin, feeling balanced, inspired and living better in your own body.

2/21: Maximize Mobility in the Hips and Lower Body
Do you feel vague lower back, hip or even knee tension that you can’t quite pinpoint or stretch away? In this workshop we’ll drop into a space of self-study, discovering techniques to ease stress and unravel tension in the body. This sequence focuses on key transitional regions in the lower body that experience high friction or become stiff or fibrous. Mainly the outer thighs, IT band, lower calves, back of the pelvis and low back. You’ll leave with a greater sense of freedom in your own skin, feeling balanced, inspired and living better in your own body.

3/14: Free Your Side Body
Drop into a space of self-study, discovering techniques to ease stress and unravel tension in your side body. Release and refresh key transitional regions – those most subject to friction and stagnation – and feel the effect on your entire system. The combination of self-massage through myofascial and trigger point release, alignment based movement and breath awareness relax the muscles, and downshift the nervous system. You’ll leave with a greater sense of freedom in your own skin, feeling balanced, inspired and living better in your own body.
