Monthly ‘Community Reiki Share’ offered in Manchester-by-the-Sea. Each month a local charity is designated to receive a portion of the proceeds. We are using ‘Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs’ to select which charity to team with. The first step being – Basic Physiological Needs (Air, Water, Food, Shelter.)
Charities have included – Open Door Food Pantry, Beverly Boot Straps, (January,) Wellspring House (February,) Action Inc. (March.) And this month – Cape Ann Animal Aid. Animals need our help too! Many of the attendees of the Monthly Reiki Share are huge animal lovers. Some have ‘loved and lost’ their beloved pets. At this month’s Reiki Share we remember and honor Johnny Cat, Luna, Ruby and Ava. Let us know if you have a charity and would like to team up with us for May!
What Ruth Spoor began in 1964 continues to grow and flourish. Providing shelter, food and homes for animals. http://www.capeannanimalaid.org/aboutus/ What began as “a few donated cages in an empty garage to occupying a 1,200 sq foot building at 260 Main Street to the 7,500 sq foot facility at 4 Paws Lane, the Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter” shows what a grass-roots community effort can do!
‘Reiki (ray-kee) Ryoho’ is considered a healing method/art that began in Japan in 1922. Reiki is offered through light touch, without manipulation of tissue, and generally considered to be safe. https://nccih.nih.gov/health/reiki/introduction.htm. A growing number of hospitals incorporate Reiki as part of Integrative Therapies, offering Reiki before/after surgery, and in the cancer treatment setting. https://nccih.nih.gov/health/decisions/consideringcam.htm While more research is needed to show effectiveness as a treatment for specific conditions, Reiki creates a calming, relaxing experience for the recipient. Animals also respond to the relaxation and potential benefits of Reiki.

Thank you Joey, for helping to spread the word about tomorrow night’s fund raiser for Cape Ann Animal Aid! They do great work; so many animals have been rescued and placed by them. Come by if you can, if not for the Reiki for the fund raising for a great cause. We’ll have tea and healthy snacks available. Manchester Community Center. 40 Beach St. (Harbor Pt.)
