Parade Pose 2017 $100 Winner

mondayschool

Once again – we had an absolute blast in the 2017 Fishtown Horribles Parade and the Rockport Firemen’s Association Parade. Thank you to everyone who tried out a yoga pose (many for the first time ever), all of you who shared pictures online, and most importantly to the countless volunteers and public safety officials who make these events the huge successes they are year after year. A lot of work goes on behind the scenes to make them a reality, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to participate.

I did my best to compile all of the pictures I could find – if yours isn’t up here please send me a private message or email linking to where you posted it and I’ll consider it for another prize.

  This year’s $100 winner is

Andi Egmont!

This photo captures 3 generations of what looks like a really fun family enjoying their holiday. There is focus and determination, balance and grace, and most importantly big smiles, laughter, and lots of fun. For me – this captures the essence of what our studio and this contest is all about.

Congratulations, and thank you for sharing your light with us!

Additionally…

we want to recognize Rockport Elementary School student, soccer player, and karate green belt (almost brown) Gerardo for this three-legged-dog with our teacher Nicole! We heard that if he won he would be donating the prize to the Rockport Firemen’s Association to help pay for next year’s parade – and we think that’s just awesome so in recognition of his enthusiasm and good will we are donating $100 to the association on his behalf. Good work, Gerardo!

World Class Yoga Teacher Returns to Gloucester

NICKI DOANE

Devotion to yoga and the desire to share with and give back to the world are what motivate the teaching of Maya Yoga with Nicki Doane. Yoga is spirit in action, and as Nicki teaches, she inspires people to find a place of spirit inside themselves, recognizing the profound connection between the self and spirit.
Nicki has been studying yoga in India for years and has been deeply influenced by the teachings of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and B.K.S. Iyengar. Her unique approach to Vinyasa yoga strengthens all aspects of your being through dynamic structural alignment, conscious breathing, and practical yogic philosophy; helping students find the deeper life of yoga. Nicki strives to teach each student that yoga is about being fully present in the moment and discovering that we are truly all One: One Love, One People, One Heart, One Destination – Our Higher Self.

Nicki Doane had a wanderlust that led her to India in 1991 to study yoga. She went to Mysore to meet Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and immediately realized she had found her teacher. Nicki started teaching in 1992. She cites Pattabhi Jois, along with Eddie Modestini, Gabriella Giubilaro, and Tim Miller among her most influential teachers. She is an authorized teacher of Ashtanga Yoga. Although rooted in Ashtanga, Nicki‘s teaching goes beyond the traditional. Her Vinyasa classes combine asana, pranayama, philosophy, and poetry. Nicki’s emphasis is on awareness: creating integrity within each pose that can be carried beyond the mat into daily life.

40days

Do something bold. Something unexpected. Something that makes your wife and your co-workers and your dad all go, “Really?”

Join us at Cape Ann Power Yoga  for our spring session of 40 Days to Personal Revolution.

We run this program to bring together people from across the North Shore who want to get more out of life. It’s people supporting each other doing the deeply physical work of power yoga, changing their eating habits, developing a personal meditation practice, and doing some serious self inquiry.

It is by no means easy, but anything that supports real and true growth never is. That’s why we do this program together to support, uplift, encourage, and share in the experience of resetting your course. Whether you’re in your 60’s or your 20’s it’s likely that there is room for improvement in your life. The powerful part about this program is that the change comes from within.

All of our teachers are quick to acknowledge that each of us have our own work to do. We’re just the lucky ones who have had the time and space to study the path. Join us on it. This is real.
