I first learned about Reiki in 1998 at a Nursing Conference and Job Fair. Faced at that time with an illness that zapped my energy, when I heard that Reiki could help improve energy levels and promote self-healing, I decided to learn more about Reiki. I took a Level 1 Reiki Training. A year later, after attaining 2nd Level Reiki Training, I was offered a position as RN/Reiki Provider at the North Shore Medical Center (NSMC) Salem MA. Little did I know in 1998 that my professional nursing practice would segue to being employed as the RN/Reiki Provider in Integrative Healthcare at major medical centers in Boston, including Mass General and Tufts Medical Center Cancer Centers.
Now Teaching Reiki in Two Different Systems. My first teacher was a registered nurse with a background in social work. This gave me a grounded in ‘science’ approach to Reiki practice and teaching. 10 years into my Reiki practice, I began training with a Japanese Buddhist Monk in 2008. From Kyoto Japan, INAMOTO Hyakuten teachings validated and confirmed what I knew of Reiki, and also taught more of the spiritual essence of Reiki, Japanese culture and history, and meaning of kanji (Japanese characters) which helped deepen my understanding and practice. I am happy to share my experiences and offer support and mentoring with those that come to my trainings.
Reiki: The Gift That Lasts a Lifetime – The ability to use self-Reiki as a quick and easy relaxation technique allowed me to end a 22 year, pack+ a day habit of cigarette smoking. I am happy and proud to be 19 years smoke-FREE.
