‘Intro to Reiki’ at Central Grammar.

Reiki Ryohō – Reiki is a hands-on healing method/art that began in Japan 1922 through founder USUI Mikao Sensei. Reiki practice came to the West in 1970 through Hawayo Takata, a Japanese woman living in Hawaii. U.S. hospitals began offering Reiki in the mid 90’s. Reiki sessions have been offered before surgery, in cancer treatment and pain management centers and hospice settings as supportive care.

Ask Your Doctor – Talk to your doctor when incorporating reiki and other integrative therapies into your healthcare/

Preliminary study demonstrates reiki may be helpful as supportive care for stress and pain relief. Due to its ease of use, gentle nature and quick relaxation effect, reiki is offered in healthcare settings (eg. pre-surgical, oncology, hospice, etc.) for the purpose of relaxation, stress reduction and pain relief.

What to expect during a reiki session: Sessions are offered through light or non-touch. The recipient is fully clothed, either seated or lying. Those receiving reiki report a variety experiences with the most common feeling “very relaxed,” “more comfortable,” “calmer.”

The relaxation response that is created during a session offers a variety of potential benefits.
