This means big, lots o’ fire to digest big, lots o’ food! Our digestive fire is the strongest it will be all day long and it’s looking for a big meal to work on. If we wait to have our biggest meal at dinner, there is no fire left in nature or in us, so the food sits like a big blob in our bellies until the next day. Yuck!

THE THREE PHASES OF LIFE – By Vishnu Om
#Ayurveda is a preventative system of medicine and health care but also a guide to support you in optimal living.
How we choose to live our lifestyle will determine if we will incur disease or redirect it.
Our lifestyle should be a reflection of our life, and our life should be supported by choices that enliven us versus enslave us.
As we live according to the daily cycle, seasonal cycle, annual cycle, lunar cycle and life cycles, we can recycle…

Bailando, Spanish for “Dance” in English, is a routine focusing on the movements of the hips and hands to express sensuality and strength through movement.
Inspired by Latin rythyms, you will be inspiring your inner Selena, Ricky Martin or Charo.
Come join us as we heat up the studio when Nia goes Latin in Bailando!
Thanks to the generosity of Sarah Silfer-Swift at MAGMA, we are able to offer a free Nia class to all seniors on Cape Ann. Previously this class was held at the Rose Baker Center but due to their limited space and the growing class numbers, we are lucky to be able to dance in this beautiful studio. The center is accessible via elevator, see note below.

If you are a member of the Rose Baker Center, we will be keeping attendance as the center will continue to promote the class to its members. Thanks to Rose Baker Center Director, Lucy Sheehan for helping keep Nia available to its members.
Want to try Nia with Linda? You may find MAGMA by either entering the building on the Pleasant St. side or via the Main St. entrance. The elevator is accessed by the Main St. door. Walk to the rear of the arcade and take the elevator to 5th floor and walk through the gymnastics space.

Nia is a head to toe wellness practice, with elements of dance, martial arts, yoga, and cardiovascular conditioning. We work with movements that help build core strength while honoring our body with its strengths and limitations. People think because Nia is a no impact movement form, that it is easy and not a true workout. it all depends on how you move and how intensely you use your core muscles. It can be both an incredible workout and is adaptable for those with limitations. All in the same class! Come try it if you haven’t. You will be amazed at the results.
Here is what Nia headquarters says about the practice of Nia:
Combining dance, martial arts and mindfulness, Nia tones your body while transforming your mind. More than just a workout, Nia is a holistic fitness practice addressing each aspect of your life – body, mind and soul.
We believe every person can discover, explore, unleash, and enhance their individual potential to live a healthy and meaningful life by engaging their senses and listening to their bodies.
Nia is based on the intelligent design of the body. Each workout brings mindfulness to your dance movement experience leaving you energized, mentally clear, and emotionally balanced.
Nia cardio-dance workouts combine 52 simple moves with dance arts, martial arts, and healing arts to get you fit in 60 minutes – body, mind, emotion, and spirit.
Nia is non-impact, practiced barefoot, and adaptable to individual needs and abilities. Nia classes are taught by licensed Nia teachers.
