ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE

Join us at North Shore Restorative Yoga this Sunday Evening November 19 from 6:30pm-8pm to individually and collectively practice GRATITUDE with a deeply healing Restorative Yoga Workshop with Katie Schroeder. Restorative yoga uses props-bolsters, blankets, blocks, sandbags and eye pillows to invite the body into simple, powerful, therapeutic poses that bring the body into balance. Restorative yoga is all about relaxing the body to release tension and stress. You will feel lighter and more connected to your body, mind and heart.

The theme of November is GRATITUDE for this body, for this mind, for this heart, for this life. This month we focus on what we can be grateful for by breathing in love and breathing out love while supporting our bodies to heal and harmonize in gentle Restorative poses. Feel the love and find the gratitude in this heart opening practice.

The days are getting shorter and the air cooler and dryer.

Autumn is a time when Agni (digestive fire) has begun cooling off. Ayurveda Wellness Healing, LLC knows the importance colors play in balancing the body. According to #Ayurveda, everything in the universe is energetic and gives off a vibration, colors too!

Friday Night Fun – Tweens and Teens (ages 11+) grab a friend and join Erin McKay for fun yoga poses set to your favorite music. Yoga is great for tween and teen students and athletes – it calms stress and anxiety, builds and tones core muscles, and increases flexibility. With our busy schedules, we can all benefit from slowing down and learning mindfulness. Class will end with a relaxing cool down where we chill out with bolsters and blankets and learn to wind down our minds. Enjoy cookies and cocoa before parents pick up.

Drop and Shop – Shop Local and take advantage of Small Business Saturday! Drop your kids (ages 6-10) off with Megan Ghirardi for three hours of yoga, movement, music, games, and crafts so you can get some shopping done and support our local businesses. A great activity to break up the long Thanksgiving weekend.

Weekly Kids Yoga – Weekly drop-ins Welcome! This playful class encourages self-expression as well as building confidence, self-respect and respect for others with the practice of fun postures that build flexibility and muscle and group games. Children will learn how to focus their energy through animated breathing and imaginative relaxation techniques.

Weekly Preschool Yoga – Little Yogis is a fun-filled yoga class for ages 3-5. Children can enjoy an introduction to the sun salutations, games, stories, breath work, and movement! A great way to release some energy, improve strength, and gain flexibility….and return to your arms relaxed and restored.

Prenatal Yoga with Amy Bissel – Starting December 12 – Use moving meditation to focus on breath, improve sleep and reduce anxiety. Move mindfully to increase strength, flexibility and endurance of muscles. Weekly on Tuesday evenings. Regular class rates apply, and class can be found on the regular class schedule beginning the week of December 10. (Our New Member Special of $49 for a month of unlimited yoga would apply to this class.)

How’s your sleep? Do you have a bedtime routine that is helping or hurting you from a good nights rest?

Ayurveda Wellness Healing, LLC encourages you to embrace an Ayurvedic Bedtime Routine by being in bed by 10pm.
To make that happen:

Turn off the TV at least an hour before bed.

Resist online anything—shopping, Twitter, Facebook, news gathering, or working.

Use that extra hour for self-reflection, journaling, restorative yoga, or meditation.

Treat yourself to a foot massage. Rub lavender-scented warm sesame oil on your feet and pull on a pair of old socks.

Put on your favorite deep relaxation CD or yoga nidra CD (earlier in the day) to help you practice resting and to take the edge off the nervous system. Doing yoga nidra too close to bedtime could refresh your energy instead of moving you into deep sleep.

Make yourself some warm milk laced with special sleep-inducing herbs. Pour 4 to 6 ounces of milk (organic) into a saucepan, along with a pinch or two of cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, and saffron, and a teaspoon of ghee, and simmer for about three minutes. Remove from the heat and let set for a minute or so. Add raw honey to taste—either more than or less than a teaspoon. Bottoms up!
