Pineapple + Digestion

Pineapple + Digestion

Ayurveda and Pineapple….

Ayurveda Wellness Healing, LLC loves the powerful digestive enzymes found in Pineapple such as bromelian. Eat this wonderful fruit to help enhance sluggish or weak digestion.

Pineapple is useful in both indigestion and loss of appetite. It’s juicyness hydrates you as well! Pineapple clears heat and replenishes your strength, energy levels and is helpful with diarrhea, bronchitis, sinusitis and arthritis.

Use Pineapple with any meal….layer slices on ham prior to baking, pineapple grilled skewers, on top of a burger or chicken sandwich, add to your salsa or guacamole – the digestive properties of pineapple combine well with many foods. But DON’T mix pineapple with dairy or yogurt as this combination clogs the channels.

Complementary, Alternative, or Integrative Healthcare ….

Complementary, Alternative, or Integrative Healthcare ….

Different Approaches to Healthcare: Complementary, Alternative, Integrative. What’s in a Name?

Western Medicine* – System in which medical doctors and other healthcare professional (nurses, pharmacists, therapist) treat symptoms and diseases using drugs, radiation or surgery. (*also referred to as allopathic, conventional, and mainstream)

The U.S. National Centers for Integrative Health Care (NCCIH)  generally uses the term “complementary health approaches” when discussing practices and products of non-mainstream origin, and “integrative health” when talking about incorporating complementary approaches into mainstream health care.

Understanding Integrative Healthcare is vital for health practitioners in knowing more about what patients are seeking regarding their healthcare, self-care, and in knowing the evidence on safety and efficacy as the basis for guiding patients. This is the essence of the integrative healthcare practice and research model.

Natural Does Not Mean Safe. Talk to Your Physician. Patients are encouraged to report use of natural products and complementary therapies to their physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure safe, effective, collaborative care.

10 Most Common Complementary Health Approaches According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) –

Ayurveda Wellness Healing, LLC knows most spices enhance digestion, and that’s one of the reasons spices are revered in Ayurvedic cuisine. Not only do they help enhance digestion, but they also help remove accumulated ama (toxins), so they are valuable additions to your daily diet.

Turmeric, cumin, coriander, fennel, mint, black pepper, dried powdered ginger, cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg and cayenne are among the Ayurvedic spices that enhance digestion and metabolism, cleanse ama (toxins) from the body and help prevent digestive distress such as gas and bloating.

Share with us your favorite recipe using one or more of the above spices.
