Monthly Tween and Teen Yoga with Erin McKay

Sunday, September 30, 6:30-7:45 pm
Ages 11 and up.
$15 in Advance
$20 at Door
Don’t you wish you had started yoga sooner!? In this playful class, your teens/tweens will build self-confidence, esteem, strength, flexibility, balance, and positive coping skills as they develop a deeper understanding of their bodies, minds and hearts. With a lighthearted approach, we will work towards more physically demanding postures and flowing sequences to keep tweens/teens interested and challenged. Fostering connection, community with class peers, and self-respect, we will also use relaxing visualization, meditation, and breathing exercises to create a well-rounded experience of “union”.
This class is perfect for all levels, genders, and ages. The student who is looking to manage stress, the athlete looking to build strength and flexibility, the adolescent who is struggling to find an activity, and the well-rounded child…because we can all use a little mind-body connection in this busy world! Sunday evenings are great time to reset, and your teens will find it easier to fall asleep afterwards.

Parents, you can find a little calm with your teens by taking Yin Yoga in the upstairs Sun Studio with Hilary while your kids are in class downstairs.

Healthy Spine Workshop at Treetop Yoga

Copy of Yoga and the Healthy Spine.png

YOGA AND THE HEALTHY SPINE

No yoga experience necessary – All are welcome!

Does your back ache after driving for long periods, standing or sitting at your computer?
Do you have or have you had back pain? Do you feel pain in your lower back when in cobra, uttanasna (forward fold), trikanasana, back bends or any other yoga poses?
If you answered yes to any of the above, this workshop will be perfect for you, as we explore how to access your body in a mindful, gentle and safe manner to allow the spine to work pain free in yoga poses and everyday life.
We will explore yoga poses that will lengthen and strengthen the spine to allow ease of movement and bring your body into alignment as you learn to keep your spine healthy.
  • Low back pain is the single leading cause of disability worldwide, according to the Global Burden of Disease 2010.
  • Back pain is one of the most common reasons for missed work. In fact, back pain is the second most common reason for visits to the doctor’s office, outnumbered only by upper-respiratory infections.
  • One-half of all working Americans admit to having back pain symptoms each year
  • Experts estimate that as much as 80% of the population will experience a back problem at some time in their lives
  • Most cases of back pain are mechanical or non-organic—meaning they are not caused by serious conditions, such as inflammatory arthritis, infection, fracture or cancer.
  • Americans spend at least $50 billion each year on back pain—and that’s just for the more easily identified costs
Sober October Challenge

Sober October Challenge

15 Hot Yoga Classes. No weed. No Booze.

ZERO Yoga Experience Required.

A Grand Prize $200 Gift Certificate to

Duckworth’s Bistrot

No automatic alt text available.

and other fun prizes along the way.

You’ll have the opportunity for meditation lessons, a motivational talk, connection with other new people, and a long, silent, guided walk or two during the month. You are not required to do any of that though. Just 15 classes – no drugs, no alcohol.

The depth and breadth of this experience is up to the group and our collective willingness to dive in, and based on the enthusiastic response we’ve already had – we’re in for something powerful.

You will be in the company COOL, CLEAR EYED, FUN, HEALTHY people.

Sober October.

Participation in the CHALLENGE is free – you just pay for your classes. For all of you who haven’t been to our studio yet – you’ll just buy our New Student Month Unlimited for $50. If you’re a returning student it will be more.

Are you in?

I invite each and every one of you reading this to come and participate in our Sober October Challenge at Cape Ann Power Yoga. And sign up with a friend! Our goal facilitating this is to make as many people as successful as possible in transforming Mind and Body between 10/1 and 11/1. There aren’t many absolutes or guarantees in life, but I PROMISE YOU and offer you a 100% money back guarantee that if you join us in the challenge and complete one month above the influence and 15 yoga classes at our studio – you will feel exponentially better, brighter, happier, healthier, and freer than you do right now. I promise. We will all do it together. You can literally come in and respectfully lie down on your mat breathing along with us and count it as a yoga class. No twisted pretzel pose required. Just do what you can – with sincere, earnest, effort.

The Grand Prize Winner of a $200 Gift Certificate will be randomly drawn from a hat of people who have successfully completed the program. (although that is really just a special bonus, the prize is in the process) This isn’t a contest or competition, it’s a community coming together to step up to living the healthiest and best lives we can. It’s a challenge to ourselves.

Special thanks to Duckworth’s for their generosity!

I will be leading a FREE kick off class and meeting on Monday, October 1 from 7:45 to 8:45 PM. We will get everyone landed and comfortable coming into the studio, where to put your shoes, what to wear, how to set up a mat, etc. We’ll show you how you can modify the practice and poses to meet your current level of strength and flexibility and how to keep your cool when the temperature is 95 degrees. The class will also count as 1/15 you’re committing to do in October. By the end of your first evening you will have any and all questions answered and be on your way towards a successful Sober October.

After that – it’s up to you to make it 14 more classes during the month. We have classes almost all day every day – you can see our schedule here.

When you decide that you’re ready for a reset this Fall, you’re ready to make your health a priority again (or maybe for the first time in your life), and you’re ready to step up and accept the challenge – we’re here waiting for you. Share this with a friend and maybe they will join you. Sign up now. Commit to living the healthiest and best life you can. (For October, anyway)

Register for FREE Kick-Off Class and Meeting Monday, October 1. 7:45-8:45PM

If you’re serious, and it’s time for you to step up – REGISTER RIGHT NOW.

I am available to answer any and all questions pursuant to this program. Please email me at capeannpoweryoga@gmail.com, find me on facebook – Dave DeAngelis, or call or text me at 6178216734. The more people who participate, the more fun and the bigger impact we all get to have. Please join us.

No tricks, no traps, and no life long commitment to sobriety. It’s just one month, and one class at a time.

If you literally cannot come up with the $50 come talk to me and we’ll find a way to make it happen.

And to be clear – I have no experience and nothing to do with anything in the field of recovery, sobriety, intervention – anything of that nature. This is an open invitation for anyone who wants to step up of their own accord and join a team of folks who are committed to a yoga filled and Sober October. Please join us.

**Please continue to take all prescribed medications and follow the advice of your doctors. Just cut out the nonsense.

Full Moon Ghee!

Full Moon Ghee!

It’s that time again and YES we did make our FULL MOON GHEE! (Auspicious Ghee)

Ayurveda Wellness Healing, LLC Organic Ghee! Was made today and ready to pick up or be shipped, while supplies last!

Everything around us has an effect on something within us. The frequency of the moon affects the mind and influences our feelings, emotions, and desires. The practice of making Ghee on a full moon is considered auspicious because the moon is thought to influence “Soma” the source of nourishment, nectar, and bliss. Soma is a Sanskrit term which is derived from the root word “su” which means to energize, stimulate, expand and grow.

Think of Ghee as liquefied sunlight!
Ghee is the most refined end product of milk and one should consider using in place of butter. Because the milk solids have been removed, it has a higher smoking point than butter.

Through the lens of #Ayurveda here are a few benefits of incorporating Ghee into your diet:

Lactose Friendly
Dosen’t spoil easily
Promotes flexibility
Rich in vitamins
Healthy digestive tract
Lowers Cholesterol
Higher smoking point
Weight loss

Contact us to purchase a fresh jar or two while they last! We ship anywhere in the US.

Treetop Yoga Studio
Friday, September 21, 6:30-8:00 PM
All-levels welcome
Join Elaine O’Rourke for an evening of bliss. Through the beautiful sounds of Tibetan singing bowls, gongs, ocean drums, chimes, rain sticks, guitar and voice, you will be led on a musical journey that will help to restore balance while you absorb the unique sound vibrations. This exquisite experience is most relaxing and meditative, and Elaine’s beautiful voice and talent on her instruments are both healing and meditative. Participants should bring a mat or something to lie on and wear comfortable clothing.
Healing with sound dates back to Ancient Greece, and has been proven to be therapeutic at the cellular level. The vibrational therapy can improve emotional and physical well-being, such as lowering stress and anxiety, improving sleep, and reducing blood pressure.
Elaine O’Rourke is an experienced 500 hour yoga teacher & musician. She is continually inspired by the transformations that occur through yoga and how the magic of music can transport you to another dimension. You may recognize Elaine from her summer yoga classes on Good Harbor Beach.
