Please join Ayurveda Wellness Healing, LLC for a powerful session of restorative Yoga combined with the deep relaxation of Yoga Nidra . (Yoga deep sleep) & Aromatherapy, Wednesday, July 11 from 6:30-8:30pm

This class will incorporate meditation, breath work, aromatherapy, and supportive healing yoga poses. We will combine the energy of the new moon to set our intention for the month ahead while deeply relaxing the body to ground these intentions and heal the body and mind.

How often do you look up at the night sky?

Feeling down? Try looking up at the night sky tonight…when looking at the stars it re-connects us with the universe.

Looking up is uplifting, as it raises ones sternum and chin, allowing the rib cage to open and our lungs to expand. This is so key as most of us look down at computers, electronic gadgets, our feet while we walk, and reading.

So give it a try tonight, step away from the TV, your phone or anything else that can wait…and let stargazing ignite hope, dreams and a sense of wonder.

Ayurveda Wellness Healing, LLC loves cardamom, ginger and fennel tea which also helps improve digestion and circulation.
2 pinches of cardamom
2 pinches of fennel seeds
1/4 inch fresh ginger


Mash ginger in a mortar and pestle. Grind cardamom and fennel using a mortar and pestle. Place in cup. Pour boiling water over ingredients and steep, covered, for three minutes. Strain and serve.

The heat of the summer can provoke anger and irritability, especially when one is dehydrated. The mere smell of a rose cools ones anger and criticism.

Staying with Rose Water this week and the many benefits it plays in cooling Pitta here is a recipe for Rosewater Lemonade, one of Ayurveda Wellness Healing, LLC go to summer drinks…

Rosewater Lemonade:

1/8 whole lemon
2 pinch Rose Water
2 c water
1 tsp Raw Sugar

Mix all ingredients together. Served cool as a lemonade or frozen as a sorbet. Enjoy!

So, what’s kitchari and what does it have to do with Ayurveda and, more importantly, you?

Kitchari is a traditional Ayurvedic dish that’s known to assist in detoxing the body and balancing all three doshas: vata, pitta, and kapha. Kitchari provides awesome nutrients while cleansing the toxins out of the body. It’s a great way to cleanse the body and soul in a gentle way.

Kitchari is made with mung beans, Basmati rice, seasonal vegetables, ghee and spices. The mung beans are known for their ability to remove toxins, specifically pesticides and insecticides, from the body. Mung beans are also a great source of protein and provide a source of good carbohydrates and fiber. It’s also a great dish for those having digestive problems and recovering from illness. There’s many versions of Kitchari out there from simple to more elaborate.

It all starts with sleep…

Ayurveda Wellness Healing, LLC knows the importance of sleep as our bodies metabolize waste products mostly after 10pm. Through the lens of Ayurveda the immune system needs to revitalize itself between 11:00pm and 2:00am.

Studies have shown that when you are sleep deprived there is a disruption with the connection from our brain to our stomach. This adds to making you think you are hungry and contributes to reaching for unhealthy high fat foods.
Ayurveda describes sleep as the “diet of the mind”.

If you are not in bed before 10pm – start this weekend by backing up your bedtime until you reach 10pm or earlier. Depending on when your normal bedtime hour is this could take a few days to a week. Something so small but worth so much to your overall wellbeing.
