Virtual Class Schedule, Prop Rental, & Mat Delivery from Treetop Yoga Studio

Cream Brown Simple Class Schedule (1)

We are well into a groove of the new virtual platform, and excited to be able to add to our schedule! Have you tried a class via Zoom yet? It’s super easy and a way to stay connected to your practice, breath, and mindful movement as we continue on this journey; isolated yet still very much connected.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR REGISTERING ON MINDBODY AND VIEWING LIVE ZOOM CLASSES

1. Create a free account on Zoom and download the app on a device if you plan to use something other than your phone.

2. Sign up on our schedule using your MindBody account. You can view the classes on the “Schedule” page of our website. Your current class passes and memberships will work, or you can purchase a drop-in class or virtual-class pass. (Only Friday currently appears, but we will update all future classes by the close of the business day on Friday).

3. Prepare your class space with blocks (or alternatives, like a piles of books or big water bottle), straps (towels, belts or ties to robes can work well), bolsters (couch or bed pillows), blankets, and/or towels. Stay hydrated and keep a water bottle handy.

3. Check your email for the link and password to access class. Please be sure to check your spam/junk/promotional inbox.

4. Prepare to link in to Zoom at least five (5) minutes ahead of time to get connected and settled.

5. Click the link from your email and simply watch, or click the video to make it a two-way interaction so your teacher can see you. Your microphone will automatically be muted so your noise will not be heard. (If for some reason the mute does not work, your teacher will ask you to click on the mute icon to prevent the possibility of background noise that all class attendees will hear.)

6. There is a picture of a camera at the bottom as well. If it has a red line through it your face is not showing. If you disable that we can see you. It is up to you if you want to have the camera on or off.

In Zoom, there are different views you can choose. In the top right of your screen, you will see an option to change views. In our opinion, the best one to have on is the one with the teacher at the forefront of your screen. This should be the default setting when you join a class or meeting.

*** Please note: By joining a Zoom call, you agree to possibly being present in the recorded distribution of the video when we create a virtual library. You can always opt out of being seen by clicking the camera icon to turn your personal video off.

Building Blocks Fund

Treetop Yoga invites our community to contribute to a fund that will allow those who are unemployed or under employed to continue their yoga practice.

We are all individual blocks that build the foundation of our studio community. As a way to allow others to still practice, we will be renting out our yoga blocks and bolsters for your home practice. All funds raised will go towards class passes for those in our community who cannot afford to participate in our virtual studio classes at this time.

Cash or Check Only. Block Rental $10, Bolster Rental $20. Email to arrange pick up or delivery.

*Must have a credit card on file at Treetop. Unreturned or damaged props will incur a charge ($20 for blocks; $40 for bolsters).

Finally, if you are in need of a new mat, or want to treat yourself (or a loved one– Mother’s Day is right around the corner!) to a new yoga outfit, we are offering free delivery to Cape Ann! Email erin@treetopyoga.com to inquire about retail purchases.

Celebrate Earth Day 2020 with a ‘Virtual’ Walk in the Woods

Celebrate Earth Day 2020 with a ‘Virtual’ Walk in the Woods

Today is the 50th Anniversary of ‘Earth Day.’  Be sure to spend some time in nature today, in gratitude, as you celebrate this wondrous planet where we all live. We are the earth’s caregivers and protectors, and that was never more evident and important than now. As Astronaut Carl Sagan’s photo demonstrated and spoke of, the earth is but a tiny speck of dust in the Universe. “Everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives,” Sagan later wrote. “On a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.”Candy Hansen, a planetary scientist at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory who worked on the Voyager imaging team noted, “It also made me think about how vulnerable our tiny planet is.”

‘Shinrin yoku’ – Japanese ‘Forest Bathing.’ Shinrin in Japanese means “forest,” and yokumeans “bath.” Shinrin-yoku means ‘bathing in’ or ‘taking in’ the forest atmosphere through all of your senses.
We all know how being in nature can make us feel good. The practice of ‘Shinrin yoku’ means ‘being in’ and ‘connecting with’ nature through your all of your senses – sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch. Enjoying the sounds of the forest, birds singing, insects and animals moving through the woods, the wind rustling through the leaves, the scent of the earth, leaves, flowers and trees, the sunlight filtering through the leaves, the clean fresh air. Enjoying flora and fauna in nature, while escaping the sounds and routines of everyday life. These experiences in nature, and the time you take away fromthe ‘hustle and bustle,’ provides a sense of peace, comfort and calm. Being in nature can reenergize, refresh and rejuvenate you, improving your overall health and sense of wellbeing.

Preventing the Spread of Disease and Boosting Your Immune System

To stay ‘healthy and safe’ during this national/global health crisis, it is important to be aware of and follow the advice of local, state, national and international government and public health departments guidelines.

Depending on where you live in the world, those recommendations vary as well as can change daily. Sources to find up-to-date, accurate, evidence-based information include: the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Institutes of Health (NIH), World Health Organziation (WHO), and the United Nations (UN), as well as state and local Public Health Departments.

Take care of yourself and doing everything you can to stay healthy and boost your immunity:

  • Rigorous hand washing,
  • Keep a healthy environment,
  • Eat healthy balanced, nutritious meals,
  • Avoid drugs, smoking, excess drinking,
  • Spend time in nature,
  • Minimize stress,
  • Get adequate sleep.

Follow the Department of Public Health (DPH) Guidelines for ‘Social Distancing,’ ‘Stay at Home’ and ‘Face Covering‘ Guidelines from the CDC, Gloucester DPH and MA DPH.

‘Preparation and Prevention’ Information from the CDC:

Foods that support a healthy immune system, from Mayo Clinic

Boosting Immunity from Harvard Health

Managing Stress and Anxiety in the Midst for a Crisis from the CDC

Things you can do to support yourself during a crisis –

  • Take breaks from watching, reading, or listening to news stories, including social media. Hearing about the pandemic repeatedly can be upsetting.
  • Take care of your body. Take deep breaths, stretch, or meditate. Eat healthy, well-balanced meals. Exercise regularly. Get plenty of sleep. Avoid alcohol and drugs.
  • Spend time in nature (while wearing face covering and maintaining 6 foot distance).
  • Make time to unwind. Do some activities or hobbies you enjoy.
  • Music is healing: listening to or playing. (Try Live streaming, you-tube and facebook house parties).
  • Connect with others. Talk with people you trust about your concerns and how you are feeling.
  • Connect with other ‘virtually’ via phone, on-line webinars, FaceTime.

If stress gets in the way of your daily activities for several days in a row, call your healthcare provider.

At Dreamtime Wellness we are offering Free 20-minute Phone Consultations (one per person) for those in need of support, stress relief, pain management and smoking cessation. During this health crisis, all our services and products for relaxation, stress management and smoking cessation are offered ‘virtually’ at discounted prices, ‘sliding scale,’ ‘by donation’ or some for free (one per person), depending on your individual circumstances and needs. Contact us for details and to schedule a consultation or session.

Our hours for ‘virtual’ sessions are Monday through Thursday. 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Some evening and weekend sessions will be available for ‘essential workers’ who work during the day and, any front-line workers.

Spring Allergies ~

Spring Allergies ~

Spring is springing and so are allergies!

Nobody wants to hear this, but diet definitely does make a difference when you’re suffering from allergies.

Most people suffer from Kapha type (phlegm) of allergy symptoms – sinus congestion, sneezing, lung congestion, watery eyes, fatigue, lethargy, mental fogginess. So it’s important during allergy season, and even for several weeks prior, to start a Kapha reducing diet. This means cutting out or drastically reducing dairy products, wheat, fried foods, and cold or iced drinks. During this time you want to add warming spices like ginger, drying grains like rye and barley, and lots of fresh vegetables including leafy greens.

Ayurveda Wellness Healing, LLC is available to help you through the spring allergy season just message us to book your virtual appointment.
