How to BALANCE being busy? RESTORATIVE YOGA!

How to BALANCE being busy? RESTORATIVE YOGA!

We are all so busy! It’s just part of life. But that’s just it, we can make being busy just one part of our lives. We can balance the other parts of our lives by being with what we love and being surrounded by what we love. Sounds a little dreamy, but their is science behind it. It’s called slowing down and learning to be still, TUNING IN so that we have a precious moment to remember what is actually important to YOU.  This simple yet effective practice is the essence of Restorative Yoga. It will support you to begin the powerful journey of learning to just be comfortable with doing nothing, expecting nothing and allowing yourself to feel like enough (which ironically helps you accomplish way more than you ever imagined!) WHY?

Restorative yoga supports your body to be completely comfortable in simple, therapeutic poses by using bolsters, blocks, blankets and sandbags which then sends a message to your mind that it is ok to relax. When your body and mind get the message that it is ok to relax, then it can heal, change and transform. You can clear out all that busy information that the body and mind get every day and you can begin to just practice being in your body and being in one moment at a time with integrity and clarity. Trust me, it isn’t always easy to be still and some days are harder than others, but the more you practice the more you will feel like you have AWAKENED to your precious life for the very first time.

Lucky for YOU, North Shore Restorative Yoga offers a ton of classes and workshops to meet each individual’s needs. Sometimes you need to move through a vinyasa flow before you get down to restoring or maybe you are ready to show up to a workshop and get your restore on right away. Bring a friend for FREE this week!

Bring a friend for FREE this week!

Yoga means union, connection and love for ourselves so that we can love others fully and completely. As a studio owner and longtime yogi, I have witnessed the power of yoga to bring people and community together. I have also witnessed the courage and vulnerability it takes to show up to yoga, especially as a new student or as a student that has taken some time off to heal injury or just got busy doing life! Sometimes it just takes a little support from a friend to get us back to our path of health and wellness which is why North Shore Restorative Yoga is excited to offer Bring a friend for FREE this week Monday October 9 thru October 14, 2017. Your friend will receive a complimentary class and you both receive all of the therapeutic benefits of the yoga practice!

The picture above is a great reminder of how walking the path of life is so much better together! Check out our full schedule of classes and workshops at http://www.nsryoga.com

Please join us for a Karma Yoga class at Treetop Yoga (3A Pond Road Gloucester, MA 01930) on Wednesday, Oct. 4th, 7:15-8:30 pm to benefit Wellspring’s Holiday Store! Sharon Esker will be leading an uplifting and interactive vinyasa class for all levels and ages. We will end with a relaxing savasana and cucumber-mint water refreshments.

Each December, for one weekend before the holidays, Wellspring is stocked with donated toys, books and gift cards for eligible low-income parents to shop by appointment for their children. Last holiday season, Wellspring’s Holiday Store served 854 children from 394 homeless and low-income families on Cape Ann and the surrounding communities, providing tremendous financial relief at a time of year when the need is greatest. That’s over 1500 gifts! Books, toys and especially gifts for teens (or gift cards) are greatly needed as we rely on donations to make this program a success.

To support this event, $10 (minimum) will be collected at the door (credit cards, cash or checks made out to Wellspring House). OR Please consider donating a $25 gift card for a teen (Target, Marshalls, Game Stop, Sephora, etc.). Cancer: Awareness, Prevention, Early Detection and Treatment Saves Lives

October is Breast and Liver Cancer Awareness Month.

Reminder to Schedule a Mammogram!

How many people face a diagnosis of cancer?

Statistics from 2017–  Here you will also find information about ways to prevent and treat cancer, and good news about prevention and survival rates.

The Good News, According to the American Cancer Society –

  • A substantial proportion of cancers could be prevented
  • All cancers caused by tobacco use and heavy alcohol consumption could be prevented.
  • Many of the more than 3 million skin cancer cases that are diagnosed annually could be prevented by protecting skin from excessive sun exposure and avoiding indoor tanning.
  • Screening can prevent colorectal and cervical cancers through early detection and removal of precancerous lesions.
  • Screening is known to reduce (death rates) for cancers of the breast, colon, rectum, cervix, and lung (with long-term and/or heavy smokers)
  • Healthy Lifestyles (healthy weight, healthy nutrition, exercise, no smoking, minimal alcohol) can help prevent cancer
  • Improvement in survival rates over the past 30 years reflects both the earlier diagnosis of certain cancers and improvements in treatment.

Prevention and Early Detection Saves Lives – Ask your doctor about ways to prevent, screen for, and treat cancer.

Mammogram Fact Sheet –

What to Expect From a Mammogram

Emotional Impacts of Cancer – A diagnosis of cancer and having to undergo treatment may cause anxiety and depression and effects families as well as patients.

Ask your doctor or nurse about ways to cope and deal with the stress of cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Private and Group Relaxation Therapies are Available Through Dreamtime Wellness™

While more research is indicated, reiki may  be helpful for decreasing stress and anxiety in patients receiving treatment for cancer. This study indicates a significant decrease in anxiety after a reiki session, and potential for improved comfort.

BEST EVER prenatal massages at Saltwater Massage Studio

One of our favorite services to provide at Saltwater Massage Studio is prenatal massage therapy (fancy lingo for massage during pregnancy).  We have had the pleasure of supporting many Cape Ann women throughout the duration of their pregnancy and it is always so fun and special to be part of that journey.  Last week, 3 of our clients gave birth and we couldn’t be happier to welcome these sweet little babies into the world!!

When we expanded last April, we upgraded our massage tables to higher-end tables equipped with a removable insert (aka “belly hole”) that allows women to comfortably and safely lie on their stomach during their massage session.  Most women view this as an incredible gift, especially in the last 10-12 weeks of pregnancy when it becomes harder and harder to find a comfortable sleeping position.

Prenatal Massage helps address the inevitable aches and pains that come along with pregnancy such as hip and low back pain and neck soreness.  Prenatal Massage also offers a chance for deep rest and relaxation that can be hard to find, particularly if there are other little ones at home!

This month, we are offering a special 3 pack of Prenatal Massage Sessions which will save 10% on each session.

This package can be purchased directly online HERE.

Or, of course, by phone (978)390-7600 or in person at 65 Pleasant St. Gloucester.
