How’s your sleep? Do you have a bedtime routine that is helping or hurting you from a good nights rest?
Ayurveda Wellness Healing, LLC encourages you to embrace an Ayurvedic Bedtime Routine by being in bed by 10pm.
To make that happen:
Turn off the TV at least an hour before bed.
Resist online anything—shopping, Twitter, Facebook, news gathering, or working.
Use that extra hour for self-reflection, journaling, restorative yoga, or meditation.
Treat yourself to a foot massage. Rub lavender-scented warm sesame oil on your feet and pull on a pair of old socks.
Put on your favorite deep relaxation CD or yoga nidra CD (earlier in the day) to help you practice resting and to take the edge off the nervous system. Doing yoga nidra too close to bedtime could refresh your energy instead of moving you into deep sleep.
Make yourself some warm milk laced with special sleep-inducing herbs. Pour 4 to 6 ounces of milk (organic) into a saucepan, along with a pinch or two of cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, and saffron, and a teaspoon of ghee, and simmer for about three minutes. Remove from the heat and let set for a minute or so. Add raw honey to taste—either more than or less than a teaspoon. Bottoms up!
Lights out

In Ayurveda, the secret of the grapefruit lies in its powerful flavors, sour and bitter. These cleansing tastes stimulate the flow of bile, diluting and flushing it out of the gallbladder and into the small intestine. Stagnant bile tends to collect and thicken in the gall bladder, where the liver stores the bile after producing it, forming problematic sludge and stones. The sludge inhibits the drainage of bile, congesting the liver. Sour and bitter flavors encourage the bile to move and flush toxins out of the liver to the relief of your newly cleansed liver cells.
*Grapefruits are contraindicated for high blood pressure or when using anti-depressants. If you take thyroid medication, please check with your doctor before adding grapefruit to your diet.
Grapefruit with Ginger, Honey and Cardamom

2 pinch Ginger (dried)
1 c Grapefruit
1 tsp Honey
Preperation
1. Peel grapefruit
2. Slice in flat circles
3. Mix ginger and cardmom with honey into a spicy paste. Drizzle over the sliced grapefruit. Cardamom is optional.
Enjoy this wonderful recipe for breakfast to help you stay balanced this fall.

We are all so busy! It’s just part of life. But that’s just it, we can make being busy just one part of our lives. We can balance the other parts of our lives by being with what we love and being surrounded by what we love. Sounds a little dreamy, but their is science behind it. It’s called slowing down and learning to be still, TUNING IN so that we have a precious moment to remember what is actually important to YOU. This simple yet effective practice is the essence of Restorative Yoga. It will support you to begin the powerful journey of learning to just be comfortable with doing nothing, expecting nothing and allowing yourself to feel like enough (which ironically helps you accomplish way more than you ever imagined!) WHY?
Restorative yoga supports your body to be completely comfortable in simple, therapeutic poses by using bolsters, blocks, blankets and sandbags which then sends a message to your mind that it is ok to relax. When your body and mind get the message that it is ok to relax, then it can heal, change and transform. You can clear out all that busy information that the body and mind get every day and you can begin to just practice being in your body and being in one moment at a time with integrity and clarity. Trust me, it isn’t always easy to be still and some days are harder than others, but the more you practice the more you will feel like you have AWAKENED to your precious life for the very first time.
Lucky for YOU, North Shore Restorative Yoga offers a ton of classes and workshops to meet each individual’s needs. Sometimes you need to move through a vinyasa flow before you get down to restoring or maybe you are ready to show up to a workshop and get your restore on right away. Check out our full line up at www.nsryoga.com
Our Monthly Restorative Workshop with Kathryn Schroeder is THIS Sunday 6:30pm-8pm $25 pre-register or show up! Pre-registration is strongly recommended to secure your spot! Sign Up Now!
Yoga means union, connection and love for ourselves so that we can love others fully and completely. As a studio owner and longtime yogi, I have witnessed the power of yoga to bring people and community together. I have also witnessed the courage and vulnerability it takes to show up to yoga, especially as a new student or as a student that has taken some time off to heal injury or just got busy doing life! Sometimes it just takes a little support from a friend to get us back to our path of health and wellness which is why North Shore Restorative Yoga is excited to offer Bring a friend for FREE this week Monday October 9 thru October 14, 2017. Your friend will receive a complimentary class and you both receive all of the therapeutic benefits of the yoga practice!
The picture above is a great reminder of how walking the path of life is so much better together! Check out our full schedule of classes and workshops at http://www.nsryoga.com
