Eat well
Fresh Air ~
Are you held up inside most of the day working? Do you eat lunch at your desk or in the lunch room/break room?
Holed up in an office all day you can sometimes forget what time it is. Sometimes the only light that shines on your face is the glare of a computer monitor or florescent lights.
Make sure you take some time for fresh air and sunshine. It’s healing, balancing, and grounding to get outside and back to nature, even for a little bit.
So start today – get outside, look up and breathe!

Leafy Greens ~
It is leafy green season so lets take a look through the lens of Ayurveda the best way to prepare for our digestion…
The preferred Ayurvedic method for cooking vegetables is to sauté them in ghee or steam in a little water. Adding salt at the beginning reduces the cooking time. Excess raw vegetables are not advised as they are heavy and hard to digest! Raw food is better in Summer, or at lunch time when digestion is strongest.
Ayurveda Wellness Healing, LLC loves dark green leafy vegetables cooked using the following method:
Toast 2 tbsp. sesame seeds until slightly golden.
Stir fry 4 cups chopped green leafy vegetables with 2 chopped garlic cloves
1 tsp.chopped ginger.
Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and salt if desired.
Serve and enjoy!

High Noon ~
We are what we digest, not what we eat.
Do you eat your biggest meal of the day at lunch between 12 noon and 2:00pm? No?
Through the lens of Ayurveda our digestive fire is the strongest and is working at it’s maximum potency. As the sun begins to go down so does our agni (digestive fire)
So start today by eating lunch between 12 noon and 2:00pm and making it the biggest meal of the day.
Let Ayurveda Wellness Healing, LLC know in a week how just this one small change made a huge difference in your body and mind.

What is Kitchari?
So, what’s kitchari and what does it have to do with Ayurveda and, more importantly, you?
Kitchari is a traditional Ayurvedic dish that’s known to assist in detoxing the body and balancing all three doshas: vata, pitta, and kapha. Kitchari provides awesome nutrients while cleansing the toxins out of the body. It’s a great way to cleanse the body and soul in a gentle way.
Kitchari is made with mung beans, Basmati rice, seasonal vegetables, ghee and spices. Spring Allergies
Spring is upon us with it’s warmth, sunshine and pollen!
One way to get a jump on spring allergies…Nasya Oil.
The nose is the direct route to the brain and also the doorway to consciousness. It is the entrance for prana, the life force, which comes into the body through the breath. Healthy uncongested breathing is important to ensure proper flow of prana throughout the head and body. When an excess of bodily fluids accumulates in the sinus, throat, nose or head areas, it is best eliminated through the nose. Administration of herbally infused oil, or nasya, helps facilitate this cleansing process. Nasya Oil soothes and protects the nasal passage while nourishing the tissues.
Nasya is especially helpful on days that are cold, dry, or windy, or when the air is dusty or full of pollen. Great for air travel where recycled air drys out the sinus passages.
Daily nasal lubrication helps to:
• release tension in the head
• relieve accumulated stress
• improve quality of voice
• strengthen vision
• promote mental clarity
Classically, nasya oil is part of a daily routine for this very reason.
Adding this to your daily routine takes no more than a minute and is as simple as placing three to five drops of the oil in each nostril every morning. You will experience an immediate heightened sense of clarity and freshness.
