Almond Milk Chai ~

Almond Milk Chai ~

Almond Milk Chai…one of Ayurveda Wellness Healing, LLC favorites!

Sweet & hearty, almond milk chai is a rich and decadent treat on any winter’s eve. Aromatic spices bring cheer to the season. Serve at a holiday party as a healthy alternative to eggnog or hot cocoa.

Restore Peace & Tranquility

Almond milk’s cool, heavy sweetness creates a sensation of stability and calm as it nourishes your nervous system. After a night of insomnia, its liver nourishing qualities provide relief from lingering sleep deprived jitters. This almond drink is a great substitute to kick your coffee habit and replenish your adrenals. If the stress of the day leaves you feeling wiped – this drink is liquid comfort food that will help you decompress.

Soothes Your Digestive Tract

The creamy nature of almond milk, ghee and maple syrup soothes your digestive tract when you are inflamed. Almond milk’s cooling nature is a traditional remedy for ulcers and gastritis. Its demulcent, coating properties can also soothe a dry, irritated throat. For those suffering from lactose intolerance, a warm mug of almond chai is an excellent substitute that won’t cause digestive upset.

ingredients
1 c Almond Milk
1/4 tsp Cardamom
1/4 tsp Cinnamon
2 tsp Ghee
1/4 inch Ginger (Fresh)
1 tbsp Maple Syrup
2 pinch Nutmeg

Preparation:
Bring almond milk to a simmer, uncovered. Watch closely as milk starts to heat up, as almond milk overflows the pot if it boils. As soon as almond milk starts to simmer, remove from heat and add spices. Brew for 3-5 minutes and serve.

For a fresher, tastier result, make your own almond milk from scratch using this recipe.

Enjoy!!

Living in Harmony with Nature ~

Living in Harmony with Nature ~

Ayurveda Wellness Healing, LLC knows the importance of living in harmony with nature and it’s cycles…

Ayurveda promotes mental well-being by bringing the body and mind back into balance through following the rhythms of nature. When the body becomes exhausted from living, we don’t have the energy, so we become anxious. “And when we become totally exhausted, we become depressed.”

From an Ayurvedic perspective, depression and anxiety are symptoms of a system that is overtaxed and out of whack. Massage, nasal breathing, meditation, resetting our internal clock, doing yoga, and even eating warm foods can help us get out of that state of chronic imbalance.

Here are simple Ayurvedic practices to help reset your system:

Abhyanga, daily self-massage with oil, calms the nervous system and boosts immunity by removing toxins that have traveled from our organs to the skin. As part of a daily routine, it also helps to lubricate muscles, tissues, and joints. Place oil in your nose and ears to help prevent sore throats, sinus congestion, and allergies.

Nasal breathing while walking or exercising activates a calming vagal response and drives oxygen more efficiently into the lower lobes of the lungs, compared to mouth breathing.

Try to move snack food to meal times and eat three meals a day.

Get to bed before 10:00 pm. The longer you stay up past 10:00 pm, the more wired and exhausted you become.

Eat warm cooked foods slowly and calmly to balance the nervous system.

Do Sun Salutations slowly with deep nasal breathing to open the diaphragm. Just 10 minutes in the morning can have a dramatic impact.

According to Ayurveda, the inability to focus is connected to our energy levels because the mind and body require a certain amount of energy to settle down and focus.

October, Ayurveda Awareness Month

October, Ayurveda Awareness Month

Ayurveda is a natural system of health and wellbeing and the sister-science to yoga. It originated in India thousands of years ago.

As a Complementary and Alternative Medicine Ayurveda can support your health needs in various ways. Ayurveda uses diet, herbal remedies, lifestyle tools and body therapies to establish health in body and mind.

Like Chinese medicine, Ayurveda is based on the five elements of nature. They are earth, air, fire, water and ether. According to Ayurveda, these elements are present in our environment around us as well as within us.

Good health is a state of balance of these five elements. Maintaining balance is the key and that involves many things. Your diet, lifestyle, relationships and habitat are all factors which can affect your natural state of balance. If you know your body type you can create a healthy lifestyle and greater well being.

Discover Your Body Type
In Ayurveda the five elements are organized into three fundamental principles called doshas. The three doshas are vata dosha, pitta dosha and kapha dosha. Each of us are composed of some combination of these three doshas.

Doshas govern the various processes of the body and mind. They create your uniqueness. With some knowledge of the doshas you can begin to track your state of health or your level of balance. Maintain a balance of the doshas to maintain health and prevent future illness from occurring.

Find Ayurveda Near You at Ayurveda Wellness Healing, LLC
book an appointment to determine your body type and your natural state of balance. As an Ayurvedic practitioners we use visual clues, ask questions and listen to your pulse to tell what your doshas are. You’ll learn your natural state of balance and if any imbalance is occurring. The diet, lifestyle measures and herbal supplements that will bring you back into balance will be discussed.

Join in one or all of our upcoming Ayurveda October events: Staying balanced with Ayurveda this Fall on Saturday, Oct. 14 and/or sign up for our Reboot & Restore Fall Cleanse or Staying Balanced with Ayurveda on Oct. 25.

Chakra’s and your health ~

Chakra’s and your health ~

Ayurveda Wellness Healing is asked a lot how ones Chakra’s can effect their well being.

Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning wheel, or vortex, and it refers to each of the seven energy centers of which our consciousness, our energy system, is composed.

Around each human being there is an energy field known as the aura. It usually extends 10-15cm out from the physical body. Some people can see the aura with all its colours, others can see a faint light, some cannot see anything at all, but this does not matter. The colours in our aura change depending on our state of health or our mood. The colour and energy of the aura is produced by the chakras. The chakras are the seven energy centres in our etheric body. They are wheels of bright colour which spin totally in balance when we are healthy and happy. When we are in bad health or feeling distressed, the chakras spin out of balance and the colours are not so bright. Each chakra is related to a particular colour. It needs to produce this colour for its energy field and it needs to spin in balance.

Base = Red
The Base or Root Chakra is associated with the color red. This chakra is the grounding force that allows us to connect to the earth energies and empower our beings. Focusing one’s attention on the color of a cherry popsicle or a juicy red apple can help bring our energetic body “down to earth” and in alignment with our physical body when we find ourselves energetically fleeting or in other words…..”spacing off.”

Physical Location – base of the spine
Physical dysfunctions associated with base chakra – lower back pain, sciatica, varicose veins, rectal tumors, depression, immune related disorders
Mental/Emotional Issues – survival, self esteem, social order, security, family
Information stored in base chakra – familial beliefs, superstitions, loyalty, instincts, physical pleasure or pain, touch
Area of Body Governed – spinal column, kidneys, legs, feet, rectum, immune system
