Lavender Tea Bread ~

Lavender Tea Bread ~

Lavender is calming and great way to reduce stress this holiday season. Ayurveda Wellness Healing, LLC loves to make Lavender Tea Bread to share with our friends and family.

Lavender Tea Bread
(makes one 8-inch loaf)

3/4 – 1 cup coconut sugar
5 tbl butter
1 1/2 tsp organic lavender leaves, lightly crushed with a mortar & pestle
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs
1 1/4 cups wheat pastry flour
1/2 cup almond flour
1 tbl flax seeds
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp Himalayan Salt
1 cup yogurt, plain
2 tbl confectioners’ sugar (to dust top)
1/2 tsp grated lemon rind (garnish on top)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease an 8-inch loaf pan and line the bottom with wax paper (or parchment paper). All ingredients should be at room temperature prior to preparation.

In a 3-qt mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar until creamy. Stir in the crushed lavender and vanilla. Add the eggs; beat well with an electric whisk (or hand blender). In a 2-qt mixing bowl, whisk together the pastry flour, almond flour, flax seeds, baking powder, baking soda and salt.

Gently gold 1/3 of the flour mixture into the sugar cream mixture. Fold in half the yogurt. Repeat the alternating pattern of flour and yogurt until all the ingredients are blended together.

Transfer the batter into the prepared pan. Bake until done, about 45 min. Test for doneness after 40 min. The bread is done when a sudden toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean and the bread starts to separate from the edges of the pan. Cool in the pan for 20 min. on a wire rack; then turn out onto the rack to cool completely.

Enjoy and share with your friends!

Winter is a great time of year for a cleanse but not just a cleanse but one that also helps to rejuvenate the body and mind.

Seasonal cleansing rids our bodies of all sorts of toxins, pollutants, harsh chemicals, pesitcides, and any other Ama (toxic residue) that our physical body has accumulated over the holiday period. Cleanses will help to purify and tone the internal organs, cells, and tissues of the body, flushing out impurites that aren’t serving us.

Ask yourself the following quesitons:
* Have you been feeling more sluggish and tired lately
* Is your energy level just not what it used to be
* After you eat, all you want to do is take a nap
* Is your thinking as clear and sharp as you’d like
* Do you have a heavy coating on your tongue
* Do you have foul body, breath and/or stool order
* Are you experiencing indigestion and excessive flatulence
* Do you have body aches
* Is your mind foggy

An Ayurvedic cleanse focuses on resetting that digestive fire, allowing it to rest and strengthen. The detoxifying nature also supports the body’s own natural mechanisms to remove built up toxins from the body. It’s a bit like cleaning out the pipes when the drain gets clogged, or hopefully even before the drain gets clogged.

Kick-Off conference call or In-person meeting

Oils
Cleansing Tea

Staying Focused ~

Staying Focused ~

Ayurveda Wellness Healing knows the importance to calm in ones life, is staying focused.

Sticking to a planned “to do” list will help one stay focused and avoid mental, physical and emotional balance in ones body.

Each morning jot down the things that you need to get done and be reasonable. If you do not accomplish all on the list then give yourself permission to move it to the top of tomorrows list!

Fresh Whole Foods ~

Fresh Whole Foods ~

Though the lens of Ayurveda one must eat food that is from the earth. Fresh whole foods…not processed foods with additives and preservatives with refined flours, and sugars. Fresh whole foods are from the earth and our bodies know how to work with them as “food is medicine”.

Next time you are buying and cooking your food keep this in mind: how does it feel, smell, look, taste and sound, yes sound.

When we eat mindfully we have turned our food into medicine for our bodies and our minds.

Remember to chew your food well as it activates enzymes that break down hard to digest foods. In Ayurveda we say: “you are not what you eat but what you digest”.

Ayurveda Wellness Healing, LLC encourages to get creative on your next shopping trip as well as in the kitchen – your health will thank you.

Spaghetti Squash ~

Spaghetti Squash ~

Don’t you just love Spaghetti Squash?

It’s that big yellow thing in the produce aisle that you quizzically look at and think – “what is that” and “how do you cook it”?

Ayurveda Wellness Healing, LLC has a favorite spaghetti squash dish and it’s so easy to make.

Prep Time: 1 hr.
Servings: 2 – 4

Ingredients:
1 lg. spaghetti squash
1/2 cup water, plus more as needed

Preheat oven to 375. Pour the water into a 13×9 inch glass baking dish. Cut the ends off the squash and discard. Cut the squash in 1/2 lengthwise. Remove the seeds. Place each 1/2 cut-side down in the prepared pan. Bake for 45 min., or until the squash is fork-tender, adding another 1/2 cup water if necessary to prevent the squash from burning. Let cool for 5 to 10 min. The flesh will break into spaghetti-like strands as you scrape it out with a fork.

Serve with Olive Oil, salt and pepper or top with Pesto Chutney – so yummy!

Got Chyavanprash?

Got Chyavanprash?

Got Chyavanprash?

As we move into the darkness of fall and being indoors we need to boost our immune systems and Chyavanprash is an excellent way to do it.

Chyavanprash is based on a traditional Ayurvedic herbal jam recipe made in a base of amalaki fruit, a natural source of antioxidants. This excellent rejuvenative nourishes and strengthens the body, providing energy and vitality.

Chyavanprash is an excellent method for daily herbal consumption due to its unique constituents of cane sugar, ghee, and honey. Proven effective over a thousand years of use, these nourishing tastes play the important role of “carriers” that allow the herbs to penetrate deep into the tissues. In a small daily dose (1 or 2 teaspoons), it makes for a tasty and very healthful treat.

This tridoshic formula stimulates metabolism and enkindles the digestive fire without aggravating pitta. It balances vata and kapha while strengthening the body against the effects of a stressful lifestyle. The energizing herbs bolster the immune system and help maintain health and well-being throughout the year.

Promotes rejuvenation and proper function of the immune system
Excellent rejuvenative for the mind and body
Supports proper function of the immune system

Supports healthy lungs and respiration

Suggested Use:
1-2 teaspoons, once or twice daily, or as directed by your health practitioner.
This jam tastes delicious on its own, mixed into a cup of warm milk (dairy or nut) or water, or spread on toast.
