Peaches and Cashew Cream ~

Peaches and Cashew Cream ~

Summer maybe winding down but there are plenty of ways to hang onto the smells, memories and tastes.

Through the lens of #Ayurveda food combining plays an important part in ones over all health. One food combining that is a no no is mixing dairy with fruit. Here is a recipe that can get around this:

Peaches And Cashew Cream Recipe (Dairy Free)

Ingredients
• 1 cup raw cashews, soaked for 4-6 hours
• the juice of half a lemon
• 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
• pinch of pink salt
• dash of cardamom
• 1/4 cup water
• 1 probiotic capsule

Instructions
1. Rinse and drain the cashews. Discard any that have gone brown, black or grey. Pour them into an electric blender and add everything but the probiotic. Blend until creamy, adding more or less water to get the consistency you want. Open the probiotic capsule and pulse the blender to mix lightly but thoroughly.

2. Taste, then spoon into a glass container. Cover with a plate then set in a warm, dark place for 2-3 hours. Taste again. It is done when it begins to taste sour. Enjoy!

Cashew Cream is gorgeous as a summer snack or dessert served with fresh fruit, torn mint leaves and an extra squeeze of fresh lemon. It is also healthy, hearty and sunny enough for breakfast where you might add fruit, flaxseeds, soaked pistachios, a drizzle of honey or a spoonful of chyavanprash.

We sell both probiotics as well as yummy chyavanprash and offer one flat shipping rate.

The Empty Cup ~

The Empty Cup ~

An empty cup is a gift

It allows us to have walked away from things, people, institutions etc that were no longer filling us up.

It takes strength to empty our cups.

When our cup is empty it can be filled with anything, anyone we like, desire.

An empty cup helps us reach out to things “we” like, need.

When our cup is filled with “us” joy has a chance to appear.

Too often we loose ourselves in relationships with friends, family, partners, jobs etc that are not filling up our cup with “us” but them.

Curried Apple and Celery Soup ~

Curried Apple and Celery Soup ~

Ayurveda Wellness Healing, LLC loves the following spring soup recipe, so yummy and it’s good for your digestion too!

Curried Apple and Celery Soup Recipe

Ingredients
(4 servings)
2 Stalks Celery, roughly chopped
2 Green Apples, peeled and roughly chopped
1/2 cup Milk
1/2-cup Vegetable stock, or water
1/2 teaspoon Cumin powder
1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon Powder
Salt and Pepper, to taste

To begin making the Apple Celery Soup, melt the butter in a saucepan. Add in the chopped celery root and the apples.

Sprinkle some salt and sauté until the celery and the apple turn a little soft.

Keep the saucepan partially covered so the steam that gets generated helps them to cook faster.

Stir in the remaining ingredients and add it to the blender. If you don’t have a blender that can’t take in heat, then wait for the mixture to cool before you can blend it.

Blend the apple celery soup mixture in the blender until smooth.

Pour the soup back into the saucepan and check for the salt and pepper levels. Adjust to suit your taste.

When you are ready to serve the soup, give the soup a quick boil

Enjoy!

Zentangle ~

Zentangle ~

We are so excited to bring to you this calming method to release anxiety, depression, doubt, worry and bring out your creative side…we all have it!
Don’t think, “I can’t draw – with the Zentangle method ANYONE can draw!
“The Zentangle® Method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns”.
We Will:
• Learn the 8 basic steps to practice the Zentangle® Method.
• Learn the step outs to creating a basic tangle- sounds technical-it’s not and its fun!
• Share Ideas and resources like Zentangle.com and pattern hunting!
• Learn as many tangles as we have time for- You will want too!
The Zentangle® Method of drawing patterns is simple to learn and is perfect for those who feel they lack artistic talent, creativity or “can’t draw a straight line”! That is not an issue in Zentangle® in fact it will probably be a plus as you start on this exciting journey. We like to say, “You Can Do Anything, One Stroke at a Time”.
Zentangle® requires only a few materials (all materials included) and can be done anywhere. Once you start to Zentangle® you will want to share your knowledge and to learn as many “tangles” as possible. There are hundreds to learn!
What then is a tangle? Think of it this way…In yoga you learn poses and in Zentangle you will learn tangles. Each tangle is its own structured pattern that is broken down into simple steps.
Each step leads to the next without any need for planning and is very easy to follow. There are less than 5 steps or less to complete a tangle.
Using the Zentangle® method on its own is relevant from a design perspective as well and from a wellness perspective- it’s calming and fun!. Described by Ikuko Acosta, Ph.D Director of the Graduate Art Therapy Program at New York University. In reference to Zentangle® Acosta states, “Repeating something, like lines or colors, for even 30-40 minutes has the function of neutralizing anxiety and anxiousness. As humans, we often associate our feelings with our visual environments. Repetitious behaviors can therefore be very calming.”
“The Zentangle® Method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns”.
Ok, too much information TMI.-Then lets get after it and TANGLE!

As an Artist and Designer, I am interested in discovering the opportunities that naturally present themselves in the process of creating Art. I use my creativity to solve problems and discover new avenues of learning through color, composition and line.
My approach to Art is simple, I study an object or landscape in detail, I remember it and then Paint, Draw or Sculpt it using paints, ink, clay other media. This experiential art process allows for my own inner interpretation, insight and expression to come through in a natural and symbiotic way.
My painting can be interpreted as Interior spaces in which the viewer can enter and move through freely feeling familiar in its chaos or lack of objectiveness and then find rest and comfort in some defined area. Currently, my art follows along the lines of Abstract Expressionism. Some of my favorite artists are Rothko, Reinhard, Sonia Delaunay, Krasner, Klee, De Kooning, Adnan and Matisse to name a few- I have many!
In April of 2015, my Art took on a new twist as I discovered the Zentangle® Method of drawing.

Honey ~

Honey ~

Ayurveda Wellness Healing, LLC and the benefits of honey…

Through the Ayurvedic lens, raw honey has many benefits including scraping fat and cholesterol from the body’s tissues making it the “go to” sweetener for kapha or anyone trying to reduce kapha in their body. However, eating a jar of honey is not going to create weight loss…Ayurveda is about balance so let moderation be your guide.

Ayurveda cautions that heating honey above 108 degrees F will render it toxic at the cellular level which could cause blockage of subtle energetic channels.

Today we know that when honey is heated its molecular structure changes; it coagulates and becomes sticky. This sticky glue-like substance can clog mucous membranes and arteries leading to cellular toxicity.

Buying and consuming local honey can help with allergies.

Enjoy…
