Staying Focused ~

Staying Focused ~

Ayurveda Wellness Healing knows the importance to calm in ones life, is staying focused.

Sticking to a planned “to do” list will help one stay focused and avoid mental, physical and emotional balance in ones body.

Each morning jot down the things that you need to get done and be reasonable. If you do not accomplish all on the list then give yourself permission to move it to the top of tomorrows list!

Fresh Whole Foods ~

Fresh Whole Foods ~

Though the lens of Ayurveda one must eat food that is from the earth. Fresh whole foods…not processed foods with additives and preservatives with refined flours, and sugars. Fresh whole foods are from the earth and our bodies know how to work with them as “food is medicine”.

Next time you are buying and cooking your food keep this in mind: how does it feel, smell, look, taste and sound, yes sound.

When we eat mindfully we have turned our food into medicine for our bodies and our minds.

Remember to chew your food well as it activates enzymes that break down hard to digest foods. In Ayurveda we say: “you are not what you eat but what you digest”.

Ayurveda Wellness Healing, LLC encourages to get creative on your next shopping trip as well as in the kitchen – your health will thank you.

Beans ~

Beans ~

Got Beans?

Beans tend to be hard, heavy, rough, dry and cooling through the lens of Ayurveda. They are best suited for balancing pitta and kapha, however they are very hard to digest for vata and/or those new to incorporating beans into their diet.

Vata: Best to eat in soup due to the added moisture and warmth.

If you choose to use dry beans vs pre-cooked canned beans you must pre-soak overnight and cook for a minimum of 1 hour.

Share with us your favorite dish using beans…

Got Chyavanprash?

Got Chyavanprash?

Got Chyavanprash?

As we move into the darkness of fall and being indoors we need to boost our immune systems and Chyavanprash is an excellent way to do it.

Chyavanprash is based on a traditional Ayurvedic herbal jam recipe made in a base of amalaki fruit, a natural source of antioxidants. This excellent rejuvenative nourishes and strengthens the body, providing energy and vitality.

Chyavanprash is an excellent method for daily herbal consumption due to its unique constituents of cane sugar, ghee, and honey. Proven effective over a thousand years of use, these nourishing tastes play the important role of “carriers” that allow the herbs to penetrate deep into the tissues. In a small daily dose (1 or 2 teaspoons), it makes for a tasty and very healthful treat.

This tridoshic formula stimulates metabolism and enkindles the digestive fire without aggravating pitta. It balances vata and kapha while strengthening the body against the effects of a stressful lifestyle. The energizing herbs bolster the immune system and help maintain health and well-being throughout the year.

Promotes rejuvenation and proper function of the immune system
Excellent rejuvenative for the mind and body
Supports proper function of the immune system
Promotes a healthy metabolism
Supports healthy lungs and respiration

Suggested Use:
1-2 teaspoons, once or twice daily, or as directed by your health practitioner.
This jam tastes delicious on its own, mixed into a cup of warm milk (dairy or nut) or water, or spread on toast.

Ayurveda Massage ~

Ayurveda Massage ~

The ancient wisdom passed on as Ayurveda text stipulates Ayurveda massage as comparable to oiling of the wheels of a chariot, which augments the working and benefits the chariot.

Similar is the effect of Ayurveda massage therapy on the human body. Ayurveda massages render thorough relaxation to the mind and the central nervous system. Also, when Ayurveda massage is undertaken customarily, this simple practice lays down the foundation of strong immune system.

Sticky gooey foods…

Sticky gooey foods…

Sticky gooey foods create sticky goo in our bodies – in Ayurveda this is known as “Ama” (toxins).

Ask your self the following questions:

Do you often feel a sense of blockage (such as constipation or congestion)
Do you often have difficulty digesting food
Do you feel foggy when waking up
Do you feel weak for no apparent reason
Do you often feel lethargic and unmotivated
Do you feel the need to cough regularly
Do you become easily exhausted, both mentally and physically
Do you frequently feel depressed
Do you often have no taste for food
Do you catch a cold several times a year

If you answered yes to 5 or more of the above questions – you have moderate to high amount of ama (toxins) in your body.

Contact Ayurveda Wellness Healing, LLC for a consultation and let us assist you in clearing those toxins.
